earthquakes ahh!!

by Gieger68 | Jul 30, 2008 |

If you have been keeping up with my blog you know that yesterday was the day I decided to give the whoops a go. I was really nervous on Monday afternoon when we went out for a short evening session at the track and I gave a good look at what I had to deal with the next day. I think it was a mistake to build it up like I did and I should have just tackled it from the beginning.  Anyways the next day my dad and I went out and started working on them. Like I said I built them up way too much in my head and I was pretty freaked out. I had some bad goes at first but I managed to not crash.  Still I was freaked out because these things are no fun and they are pretty burly looking. Then when I was talking to my dad about what I needed to do differently I felt like I was getting vertigo.  All of a sudden it felt like my head was spinning and everything was moving. The first thing I thought was these whoops have got me really freaked and my head is spinning. Then my dad asked me what I was doing. I figured while my head was spinning that I must have been rocking on my bike also. I told him I wasn’t doing anything and he said it felt like the ground shook. A little bit later that day I got a text from my mom asking if I was okay. I thought it was weird that she was so concerned about me and the whoops. So I let her know how I was doing and that I was fine. She said we must not have felt the earthquake then. Thats what she was concerned about and it all made sense. My head wasn’t spinning and I was rocking on my bike because the ground was shaking. Crazy to think we felt it all the way up near Valencia. Anyways that’s my earthquake story in a nutshell. Hopefully next time I write this I will have a gold medal around my neck. Until then…TG

If you can learn whoops during an earthquake, you will do just fine any other time. Good luck at X games!

Hi Tarah good luck with those whoops and don’t worry about them at X,, just pin it a gear high and you’ll zip right through them no problem. I met you last September at the Des Nations at the Red Bull party Sunday night after all the racing was done. I got my picture taken with you and I just want to say thanks ! It is an awsome pic and you had really cool sunglasses on. Good luck at X and I hope you get to race in the Motocross of Nations many more times in the future !

Hi Tarah, good to hear you’re ok. Here’s some south american guy cheering for you. I feel proud when people from South and Central America go and perform well in the US, just like Martin Davalos, Anotnio Balbi, Mariana Balbi and you of course. Good luck at X games!!! Cheers from Uruguay
